The next London Forum meeting is on Tuesday 9th October at City Hall. The focus will be on ways of supporting young people and avoiding youth violence and knife crime.
We’ll have an update on the Mayor’s £45m Young Londoners Fund and an outline of City Hall’s wider work to tackle youth violence from Katie Myhill, Greater London Authority Education & Youth Team and members of the Mayor’s Peer Outreach Team.
Jane Brueseke, lead officer for Youth Engagement & Participation at Waltham Forest council, on how peer to peer engagement is aiming to reduce youth violence and describing their best-practice, award-winning models in Waltham Forest. She will be joined by some young people who will talk about their peer to peer work and proposals to do peer engagement on the street (Streetbase); already successfully run by Southwark Young Advisors.
There will be an opportunity for discussion and to hear how those of us participating in the meeting are approaching the issue.
Everyone is welcome who has an interest or a role to play.
